Many South Carolina families are sending their children back to school this week… just days before our state’s Sales Tax Holiday Weekend.
That simply doesn’t make sense.
Yesterday morning, I asked staff to begin drafting legislation to move the Sales Tax Holiday to July, when families are actually buying school supplies, clothes, and other back-to-school essentials.
I’m grateful that several colleagues have already agreed to co-sponsor this legislation so we can get it passed and give every South Carolina family the opportunity to save when it matters most.
Good ideas don’t belong to one party or one person. They belong to the people we serve.
People. Not Politics. It’s been my guiding principle since I was first elected, and it’s still the best way to get things done.
