No, this isn’t the Broad River Road Widening that we’ve all been waiting for now for several years from the FIRST Richland County Penny Tax! But I did want to share with you what you may see going on in the Ballentine/White Rock area.

Similar to what was done a year or so ago in Chapin (starting at Lexington County line and going into Chapin), SCDOT will be repaving Dutch Fork Road from the Ballentine area up to the Lexington County line (aka “Richland County part of the road” up until just past Wessinger Road where the county line is).

Before the contractor can repave, patchwork has been done and most recently a “two foot widening” has occurred. That’s why you see grass scraped back on the road and “two feet” of asphalt laid down on each side. The contractor should get to repaving before the end of the year and you will finally have a smoother ride than you’ve had in the past.

NOTE ON BROAD RIVER WIDENING RICHLAND COUNTY LOCAL PENNY-TAX PROJECT: If only Richland County would have turned the project over to SCDOT years ago when I asked . We could have had this finished by now instead of no ground being broken to date (but I’ve been told “it’s coming shortly”)
