Public Meeting Nov. 15 in Richland County Concerning Shady Grove Road Bridge Replacement

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has scheduled a public information meeting in Richland County on Tuesday, Nov. 15, concerning the proposed Shady Grove Road bridge replacement over I-26.

The meeting will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Dutch Fork High School, 1400 Old Tamah Road, Irmo. The meeting will have a drop-in format with project displays available for viewing. Informal, written and verbal comments will be collected during the meeting. A brief presentation regarding the proposed project will be conducted at 6 p.m.

The purpose of the meeting is to provide information and solicit feedback from area residents concerning the proposed Shady Grove Road bridge replacement over I-26. Another purpose of the meeting will be to gather information from the public or any interested organization on historic or cultural resources in the area. The bridge replacement is proposed in order to upgrade the existing structure that is structurally deficient and to provide additional clearance over I-26. Representatives of SCDOT will be available to answer questions.

Additional information concerning the project may be obtained by contacting SCDOT Program Manager Ladd Gibson at (803) 737-3511 in Columbia. Persons with disabilities who may require special accommodations should contact Lis Bleasdale at (803) 737-1395.
