The South Carolina Association of Tourism Regions (SCATR) elected new officers for 2013-2014. The following officers have been appointed:

President: Miriam Atria, Capital City/Lake Murray Country
Vice-President: Tim Todd, Discover Upcountry
Secretary: Peach Morrison, Lowcountry & Resort Islands Tourism Commission
Treasurer: Mary Shriner, Santee Cooper Country

SCATR represents 11 regional tourism organizations that were designated by The State of South Carolina. The organization fosters economic development through tourism promotion and has a combined direct economic impact of $5.8 Billion for South Carolina. The operation of 12 Visitor Centers across the state allows the regional tourism offices to serve over 3.5 Million visitors annually.

Cooperatively, the SCATR regions spend over $10 million to market South Carolina annually, generating 2.81 in direct taxes for each dollar spent. The organization’s members bring added value to stretch marketing dollars through whole state marketing and regions forming advertising cooperative efforts.

The SCATR regions expose South Carolina to national and international media markets through press events, travel/trade shows, major festivals/events/tournaments and website placed media exposure.

South Carolina’s $2.5 million dollar investment generates a Return on Investment of $82 Million!
