Irmo Little League Celebrates 30 Years with Opening Day Ceremonies

Irmo, SC – On Saturday, March 16th, Irmo Little League kicked off its 30th season with a grand Opening Day celebration at Friarsgate Park. Originally slated for March 9th, the event was rescheduled due to inclement weather, but the delay only added to the excitement.

The festivities commenced with a special moment reminiscent of three decades ago, as then Irmo Mayor John Gibbons threw the ceremonial first pitch, echoing the inaugural pitch of the league’s history.

A highlight of the day was a spirited parade featuring all the league’s teams, showcasing the community spirit and camaraderie that defines Irmo Little League. The players then gathered in centerfield to honor last year’s championship winners and receive words of encouragement from Irmo Mayor Bill Danielson and SC House of Representatives member Nathan Ballentine.

Both Mayor Danielson and Representative Ballentine shared inspiring messages with the young athletes, urging them to embrace the upcoming season with enthusiasm and sportsmanship.
As Irmo Little League embarks on its 30th year, the Opening Day ceremonies served as a reminder of the league’s rich history and the countless memories yet to be made on the baseball diamond.
