The Board of the Greater Chapin Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Karen Owens will be its new Executive Director, beginning Monday, September 3. Please come by the Chamber’s tent at the Labor Day Festival to meet Karen.

Karen has worked in public relations and marketing for more than 25 years, holding management and executive positions with the SC Department of Commerce, the Clare Morris Agency and the Silver Crescent Foundation. Most recently, she has owned and operated a public relations consultancy, Karen Owens Communications.

She has been an active Chamber member, too, having served on the annual gala and economic development committees and chaired the Chapin Small Business Networking Group.

“I am very excited to start this new chapter with the Chamber. Since moving to Chapin in 2005, I have become very active in our community and share a real passion for helping Chapin’s business community grow. I look forward to meeting with business owners and community leaders over the coming weeks and developing ways to work together to make sure Chapin remains a great place to work, live and play.”

A graduate of the University of South Carolina, Karen has a Bachelor’s degree in business administration and a Masters in mass communication. She is married to James Owens, Jr. and has two teenage sons, Jimmy and Will. She is on the board for Chapin We Care Center and serves as a worship leader and senior warden for St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church in Chapin.
