Tonight, I received a copy of a request that I wanted to share with our community.

If you’re not familiar with the SC Association of Student Councils, you need to know that our community is well represented as we have several students holding leadership positions! Our schools have some of THE BEST student councils in the entire state!

January 2008

Dear Dutch Fork Parents and Community,

As you may know, Dutch Fork High School has the distinct honor and privilege of hosting the South Carolina Association of Student Councils State Convention March 14-16, 2008. Approximately 325 delegates from schools all over South Carolina will be attending, and we will need the help of our Dutch Fork Family and community to house these students for the weekend. While attending the convention at DFHS, the delegates will require the following:

• Sleeping arrangements for two nights (Friday and Saturday). Please remember that teenagers are adaptable. Students must have a bed, air mattress, sofa, etc…
• Two (2) meals (Breakfast Saturday and Sunday) plus snacks.

Transportation will also be needed at the following times (approximate):
• Friday: Pickup at DFHS at 10:30 PM
• Saturday: Drop off at DFHS at 8:30 AM
• Saturday: Pickup at DFHS at 1:15 PM
• Saturday: Drop off at DFHS at 3:30 PM
• Saturday: Pickup at DFHS at 10:30 PM
• Sunday: Drop off at DFHS at 8:30 AM

We would appreciate your acting as a host family for students visiting Dutch Fork High School for this very important event. This is a great opportunity to demonstrate a loving, caring attitude to our young people by supporting this worthwhile cause. Please help us showcase the District Five community in the best possible light.

We will need to know the number of students that you will be able to accommodate and whether you would prefer to house males or females.

Please record your response on the attached sheet and mail to Kathryn Wagner, 1400 Old Tamah Road, Irmo, SC 29063 by February 10, 2008. If you have questions, please call me at 803-732-8055 or email me at kwagner@lex5.k12.sc.us. I can respond more quickly to email.

Sincerely,

Kathryn Wagner
