Dennis Carroll Ballentine obituary and service information

Last Thursday I left the State House abruptly after a phone call from my mother. This past week has been a blur mourning and grieving with friends and family over my Dad’s passing.

I shed a lot of tears, not just because I missed him being with us; but because of the stories shared from others and their outpouring of support for my mother and me during this time.

Somehow, with God’s grace, I was able to deliver remarks at my Dad’s service and am so grateful I was able to do that to honor him.

Seeing the honor guard present my Mom with the flag from his casket was overwhelming, humbling, and yet, a moment that made me smile as I saw Dad’s picture beside his coffin.

My Mom is a strong, Christian woman and was by my Dad’s side for 60+ years. She will miss the love of her life, but she knows she will see him again and that he is in Heaven with his Lord and Savior!

Thank you to everyone who texted, called, wrote and visited. I appreciate you and felt your prayers and love.

I will miss my hero. My Dad. Big D.
