Always appreciate y’all being my eyes and ears out there!
Between sidewalks, traffic signage/signals , roads , bridge repair, resurfacing and of course – major highway renovations – we’ve seen a lot of progress through the years out here! I’m pleased with how SCDOT responds to our needs (wants); but not so much Richland County and the Penny Tax Program that was approved almost 15 years ago.
I found this on my site from 2008 when our then-local Richland County Councilman was asking for feedback about the penny tax . Ironically, where I filmed this video today is the ONE main project that our community has seen from that penny tax. We STILL continue to wait on Broad River Road to start/finish. The most recent update on that project can be seen here. The county will be asking for our vote this November to extend that penny. Our local Richland County Councilman, Jason Branham, tells me that county officials tell him our community stands to see SEVERAL improvements this time around based off a recent needs assessment??? I’ll believe the county when I see it. You know….fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, shame on you….
Regardless of how that transpires, please reach out to me anytime you can use the services of SCDOT or have road issues that fall under this state agency. Like I said, SCDOT will do everything they can to help when I call!
