With a Presidential Election, a county Penny Tax referendum , and our School Board referendum , election day this November will have long lines – even if everything is running smoothly. I don’t need to remind you that sometimes things don’t run smoothly though .
If you want to help avoid long lines and reduce your wait time, here’s how:
1. Volunteer as a Poll Manager (really, Poll Worker…don’t be afraid to volunteer thinking you are the head person at the poll, that’s not what we need. We need workers). Richland County is always in need of poll workers and this is your chance to help make a difference for our community! When you do apply, please email me at NathanBallentine@schouse.gov so I can contact the county to be sure things don’t fall through the crack and I will also ask that you be stationed out here on election day!
2. Vote Early. Beginning Monday, October 22nd, and going thru Saturday, November 2nd, House District 71 voters can vote early by going to Ballentine Park (Richland County voters) or Chapin Town Hall (Lexington County Voters). Those two locations out here will be open Monday thru Saturday from 8:30am to 6pm.
3. Know what’s on the ballot. Starting September 4th, you can click here and view your sample ballot by typing in your county, first and last name, last four of social.
4. Know your voting location! You can click here and see your voter registration card by typin gin your county, first and last name, last four of social.
PLEASE NOTE: I have been made aware today of a few changes in our area. SPRING HILL voters will vote at CHAPIN MIDDLE this November. RIVERSPRINGS 1 AND RIVERSPRINGS 3 voters will vote at River Springs Elementary School. RIVERSPRINGS 2 voters will vote at ST Paul AME Church.
5. Plan ahead. If you cannot vote early between October 22nd and November 2nd, try to coordinate election day and go during non-rush hours. I know I’m stating the obvious here but, before work and after work are the busiest times at the polls. Lunch is next busiest time. If you can go mid-morning or mid-afternoon, you should be able to save yourself a lot of time out there!
You say Springhill will vote at Chapin Middle this November. I live in Stoney Point off of Three Dog. I just used the link you provided (thanks!) and it says I am in precinct Springhill 1 and I vote at Lake Murray Elementary.
Hang on. I looked again and my precinct is Springville 1, not Springhill. Wish they would t pick names so close they’re likely to cause confusion.
Yep. Thanks for double checking. I checked the rolls and thought you were Springville 1 like I am! See you walking your dog often. Hope all is well. Go WVU!
