H. 4552 Redevelopment of Federal Military Installation to Include Affording Housing
The House amended and returned to the Senate H. 4552, a bill that would expand projects that can be undertaken in the redevelopment of a Federal military installation to include afforda-ble housing projects. The bill outlines that all or part of the new property tax revenues gener-ated in the tax increment financing (TIF) district will be used to provide or support publicly and privately owned affordable housing, including supporting infrastructure projects, in the district. The bill also defines “affordable housing” as residential housing for rent or sale that is appropriately priced for rent or sale to a person or family whose income does not exceed 80 percent of the median income for the local area, with adjustments for household size, from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development. In addition, the House added an amendment extending the sunset provision from January 1, 2028 to June 30, 2044 of a closed or realigned federal installation.
S. 1047 Denmark Technical College
S. 1047 was recalled, passed and, having received three readings in both Houses, was en-rolled for ratification. S. 1047 relates to Denmark Technical College area commission mem-bers, so as to provide that the manner by which commissioners are appointed shall be by ap-pointment of the governor upon the recommendation of a majority of the members of the General Assembly representing Allendale, Bamberg, and Barnwell Counties.
H. 3248 School Board of Trustees Expenses
H. 3248 was recalled, amended, given second reading (with third reading on April 19th). H. 3248 relates to reimbursement in Pickens County (in the form of a stipend) for expenses incurred in performance of official duties of school board trustees.
