How can I get an explanation of this even incorporation. Is Irmo pushing? How will this benefit either party?

If the incorporation election passes how can a person get on the ballot to be elected to the town council?

I am amazed at the absence of publicity concerning the upcoming vote on the incorporation of Ballentine. Based on the lack of publicity this could be a very unbalanced election and I hope that in the next 10 days there will be major efforts to promote the election.

    Thank you.

    Mr. Ballentine,

I am a young republican in the White Rock area. I’m actually pretty well known in the area along with my parents. I am curious to know, why you are in favor of incorporating Ballentine? Seems to me that everything has been fine for the past years that I have lived in this community. It seems like someone is becoming power hungry! I have studied the effects this will have on the community in the long run. Honestly this will affect my property and my family’s properties. It appears to me that this is adding one more layer of government!

    Sincerely,

    Anna Cripps

Anna, thanks for writing! I saw your dad tonight at the meeting at Ballentine Park.

As y’all know. I stay out of local politics because I believe our community doesn’t need or want the interference of politicians. Too often, politicians try to impose their will on others insead of listening to the people.

From the start, I have shared that anytime people get to voice their opinions, it’s good thing. This vote - regardless of the outcome - will allow the community to determine once and for all how to proceed. For too long a feud with Irmo and with Richland County has existed. This vote will put to rest the feud.

Either Ballentine (or whatever the voters decide to call the new town) will incoprorate or the issue will be over.

My hope is that after the outcome, people will have experience democracy at it’s finest by voting on what they feel is best for their community.

    Stay in touch often!
