On vacation - Cape San Blas, Florida

July 1, 2008

Sorry in advance for a slow-blogging week but I’m down in the Gulf with my family until Sunday.

Interesting that I noticed they are doing “Beach Renourishment” here to the tune of $21,000,000!

I guess since it’s all public beaches, that’s a “justifiable use” of tax dollars instead of going to renourish a private beach. As you know, we also do this in South Carolina in order to continue to attract tourists. It’s just hard to rationalize (outside of spend-a-dollar to gain more dollars) pouring money LITERALLY into the ocean every year.

Oh…..for the record, gas is $4.19/gallon here. Can’t wait to get back home (which will take 10+ hours of riding and four Disney movies to boot!)

    Hey, Nathan!
I hope you and your family enjoyed your vacation! It’s great to have you back in Irmo. We are in week number three of Summer Academy in the district’s summer school programs, and we have high hopes for our kids. We are also piloting MAPs testing in Science, which will replace PACT. I already like it better; as it has already provided me with valuable data to better instruct some of our most at-risk students! Thanks for all of your hard work, and take it easy!–TMD

    Trina,

Good to hear from you! I still remember you letting me put up a yard sign years ago during my first campaign!

Was good seeing you a few months back at DFMS. Please tell everyone at the Academy that I appreciate what y’all do for our students everyday.

Come back and visit the site often and please, stay in touch!

    Nathan
