McMaster next up for Dutch Fork High School

January 28, 2009

Potential gubernatorial front-runner, Henry McMaster (currently state Attorney General), will be visiting Lexington/Richland School District Five tomorrow.

The visit will once again place another SC elected official right in the middle of Mrs. Kelly Payne’s civics classes (also commonly referred to as a “must visit” for state politicians and politicos).

Earlier this year Representative Nikki Haley and I stopped by Mrs. Payne’s class and soon after that, SC Speaker of the House Bobby Harrell paid a visit. Just this week, she’s even had Comptroller General Richard Eckstrom speak with the students.

While the recent visits have been more “high-profile” than the past, she has had several other officials and consultants visit before and share first-hand accounts and information about South Carolina politics.

Do not be surprised if sometime soon State Superintendent of Education Jim Rex , Lt. Governor Andre Bauer , and quite possibly Governor Mark Sanford pay a visit as well.

I’ve worked and spoken with several of these students for the past few years at various events and parades and can tell you that when you visit with them, you better bring your “A game”.

Enjoy the visit students and send me pictures to post tomorrow night!

just make sure that you bring your best speech, and make it entertaining, because they have gotten to a high standard that some politicians can’t seem to master. Good Luck!!!

I think that it was a wonderful visit from Mr. McMaster. As a student I find it very informative to have important speakers come to our class. After all we are the future voters and to get votes from this generation is very important! Thanks to all the speakers that we have had so far… and for the ones coming up I do suggest making it a great lesson because the bar is set high!

I found Mr. McMaster’s visit to our class very interesting. I’m glad that important people like Mr. McMaster take time out of their busy schedules to visit high schools. It helps us to become more informed about our government because, after all, we are the upcoming voters!

McMaster’s efforts to reach out to us students influenced my perspective of the Attorney General. The information he shared was very informative and appreciated. though he didn’t state wether he would run for governor or not, i would advise other candidates to show great effort to persuade us students.

I really wish i could have been here for this, but I’m always so busy. I really wish that people like this could come for our block time for current issues.

I thought it was cool having Mr. McMaster stop by the class be got to hear about big trial cases like the North Carolina case and how losing that case will effect our water. He did tell us alot about helping our state and how we should help one another. I took that to heart. I’d love for him to come back and chat with us some more.

McMaster influenced everyone, when he came to Dutch fork. He made some excellent points on the issues of dog fights, sex predators, the water problem, and had good things to say about our history. I think he would make a good governor and I would vote for him…if i could. I really enjoyed his visit to our class, even if I did make a fool of myself.

I think it was awesome of Mr. McMaster to come and visit our class last week. He was very informative about our state and the problems we are having. He was also very willing to answer anything we threw at him. It was a great experience and think it was awesome that he took time out of his schedule to stop by.

    Thanks Mr. McMaster!

Mr. McMaster proved to be an excellent and informing speaker during his recent visit to our current issues class. I thouroughly enjoyed listening to is proposals for state prison reform including the establishment of a middle court. His report on dogfighting was nothing less that eye-opening. Thank you Mr. McMaster for sharing your insight to a group of future South Carolina voters!

i think that it’s awesome that high position politicos, like mr.mcmaster here, can take time out of their very busy agenda, to come to our school. this is an event, nowhere else does something like this take place. i lived in Oklahoma for, approximately, three years, and i never even heard of something like this ever happening. so i really appreciate mr.mcmaster coming to our school. he talked about things that are going on right now in SC that i didn’t even know about, and that are a big problems. i think that mr.mcmaster is the indicated person for governor.

I think it’s great that he came out to our class to speak to us about the problems that we as a state are facing, and open our eyes to things we would never even imagine of happening. I wasn’t there to hear it all, I wish I was, but I heard it was great. Thanks Mr. McMaster!

Mr. McMaster coming to our class was a great opportunity. Not only to meet our “state lawyer” but to listen to what is going on in South Carolina. He gave us updates and answered many of our questions. Thanks for taking time to come speak to us!!!!

Mr. McMaster was a excellent speaker. He told us about big problems that South Carolina has that we didn’t know about. He is going to make a good governor if he is elected.
