If this bill doesn&#039;t pass (without the retirement benefit for the
General Assembly), SC taxpayers will either have to pay for retirees ad hoc COLA&#039;s, or a lawsuit brought against SC for not granting an ad hoc COLA (first time in 40 years).

We&#039;ve got outstanding and historic legislation that needs to be passed. For the very first time in 40 years we have legislation that reduces the system&#039;s unfunded liability and secures the stability of the system while looking out for our state and police retirees.

We&#039;ll see how the General Assembly moves forward with this.
