I was surprised to learn that the school tax that was relieved from my private residence was just added to my rental house. While my home taxes went down, when I got my rental escrow statement, I found that it’s school tax had increased so much that I had to pay $1800 out of pocket (equivalent to $150/mo) to keep my house payment increase down to only $100/mo. That shift in school taxes will only raise the rental market to outprice those who can little afford it. I had a profitable rental house, that now does not pay the mortgage, and I still feel I have it overpriced. I’d rather see school taxes divided among many, than all collected from a few.
