Wanted to be sure y’all knew…
Yesterday, I took this photo at the intersection of Rauch Metz Road and Dutch Fork Road. Today, the traffic light poles are now up. In approximately 30 days, the signals should be up and running and helping traffic flow (particularly with left turns).
Trust me, I know we have many more infrastructure needs (so does the entire state) but the SCDOT has been good to the Irmo, Chapin area in the past few years and as I learn more, I’ll be sure to pass along to you.

Still need one at Broad River Rd and Bickley Rd. Also need a left turn light on Dutch Fork Rd turing onto Dreher Shoals Rd.
However drivers slowing down, actually doing the speed limit and stopping at stop signs would help a lot.
I think something needs to be done the intersection of North Lake Drive, Salem Church Road and Farming Creek Road and EVERY single person that has to cross that intersection multiple times a day will agree with me. There is an accident there weekly. I guess it is going to take someone getting killed there before anyone decides to listen.
Thank God. It is about time. I have been living in White Rock for 32 years and this has been needed for so long. I actually was going to put this my to do list this when I was not taking care of my husband to try and Ferndina done. I am sure this will help the traffic flow and hopefully save lifes. Now I do not have to turn right and then into the church to go back towards Ballentine. I was hoping when I saw the work going on at the Shell station that a light was coming. Thanks to whoever got this done.
Please, no stop light at Bickley & Broad River. That school zone slows me down enough already !
If you want a stop light, go drive the mile between Ballentine Wal-Mart & Chick Fil A.
However, while on the subject, removing the stop light at Koon Road & Broad River Road would greatly alleviate congestion there.
A school zone slows you down…. It doesn’t slow down everyone. 25 means 25 by the way…
Also maybe you should leave eariler instead of being in such a hurry.
My family were one of the 1st families to settle in the Dutch Fork area and have been invaded by neighborhoods, traffic, businesses, and uncaring, crazy, in a hurry drivers. We love and miss our countryside, farms, waving to our neighbors, patient caring people…
First, thank you for all you do for this area. I had planned to write you for some time but this has made me drop everything and ask you to look into this matter. I live in Courtyards of Rolling Creek about one half mile from the new schools. We have a problem with the traffic trying to get out of the community on to Broad River Rd. It use to be in early morning and late afternoon due to the traffic from empolyees from Jenkinsville Power Plant which becomes an issue and a dangerous issue. Now there is two schools and when they become fully operating, it will increase the danger for this community. The road is two lanes which was adequate for the rural area when it was built. Now time has changed and the need is there for a traffic light to remedy the danger at hand.
I will look forward to your input and hearing from you.
This light has been needed for a long, long time. Please pass on our appreciation to those who have had a hand in making this happen. Thank you, too, for your informative messages. Gene and I appreciate all that you do for us in our district.
